Agency/Organization Overview:

The Community Engagement Office at Minnesota State University, Mankato is dedicated to serving as a vital link between the campus and greater Mankato community. Partnering with academics' service-learning opportunities in various MSU courses, the Community Engagement Office (CEO) assists non-profit agencies locate service-learning students and student-volunteers to assist with the non-profit sector's ongoing services and special events. The Campus Kitchens Project is an integral part of the Community Engagement Office (CEO) and a new Mavericks READ program is being established, serving as an offshoot of our recently-cancelled JUMPSTART program.

Mission and Vision:

The mission of the Community Engagement Office is to create service programs and volunteer opportunities in collaboration with the Greater Mankato area, which enhance student development and enrich the lives of community citizens. The vision of the Community Engagement Office is to instill a passion to make a difference by becoming involved in community engagement.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Campus Kitchen and Mavericks READ utilize volunteers on a regular basis, both daily and on weekends. Campus Kitchen recovers food from various locations within the community, and repackages the food utilizing USDA standards for wholesome and nutritional meals, and delivers the food to established clients in need of meals. Mavericks READ will provide assistance for children to better prepare them for kindergarten and will sponsor an annual Dr. Seuss birthday party for pre-school and kindergarten children, along with other literacy-related events.
