Serve as a coach/mentor in our self-esteem enhancing programs for girls in 3rd-8th grade, Girls on the Run and Girls on Track! Our 12 week seasons work to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Help us support and empower young lives one girl at a time! YWCA of Mankato
Volunteer Coaches and Assistant Coaches Needed for Girls on the Run The YWCA is recruiting energetic Coaches and Assistant Coaches to serve as volunteer mentors and role models for Girls on the Run®, a new program for girls in third through eighth grades. Assistant coaches must possess a true passion for working with youth, but do NOT need to be experienced runners. Coaches/Assistant Coaches must posses the ability to commit to weekly or biweekly meetings for 12 week program sessions. Fall season runs September -December and Spring season runs February - May. The time commitment is 1.5 - 5 hours a week during the season. Girls on the Run is character and self-esteem building program for girls 3rd-8th grade that uses running and physical activity as a means to teach life skills. The program's mission is to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. The 12 week curriculum builds capacity in young girls through topics that explore themselves, relationships with others, and a connection to their community. The girls celebrate the end of their season by completing a 5k (3.1 mile) run/walk event! Coaches/Assistant Coaches will co-facilitate the bi-weekly lessons and guide participants through the fun, uplifting, and empowering curriculum. If you'd like to make a positive difference in lives of young girls JOIN US in Girls on the Run! Learn, dream, live, run.
